The day counter, otherwise known as a date-to-date calculator, is a handy tool that lets you estimate the number of days between dates quickly and without any hassle. For example, you can use it when counting down to your birthday (we also have a birthday calculator 🎂) or when you’re wondering how many days are left before a critical deadline.
Day Counter / Date Difference Counter
That’s not all, though! You can also use this date duration calculator to check what date it will be after a certain number of days have elapsed – for instance, if you’re starting a 90-day fitness challenge, you can find out when the challenge will end.
How to use the days calculator
There are three main ways you can use this date-to-date calculator:
- Unknown number of days between dates – When you have the start and end dates for a period, such as the summer holidays, you can easily calculate the number of days between them. Simply input these two dates into the day counter tool. Make sure that the end date is set after the start date since traveling back in time isn’t possible! This feature helps you determine the exact duration between two specific dates.
- Unknown start date – To determine the date that was 57 days prior, simply enter the end date along with the number of days that have elapsed into the provided fields. This will allow you to easily calculate the exact date from 57 days ago.
- Unknown end date – You can also use this calculator to find out what day it will be after a specific amount of time has elapsed. To do that, input the starting date and the number of days between into the day counter.
How many days between dates?
Imagine that you have a complicated project due at work. Today is July 14. Your boss wants to check the progress 14 days before the end of the project. Additionally, he expects the project to be finished by September 27.
You can ask yourself two questions:
- On what date will the progress check take place?
- How many days do you have until the progress check?
To answer the first question, we need to subtract 14 days from the date of September 27. If you input 14 days as the specified days between and use September 27 as the end date in the day counter, you will swiftly find out that the progress check will occur on September 13. By simply entering the dates into the calculator, you can easily determine that the progress check will indeed be conducted on September 13.
Now that we know when the progress check will happen, we can calculate the number of days between July 14 (the start date) and September 13 (the end date). The result is 61 days – that’s the amount of time you have left to work on your project.
Not sure whether the result is correct? Go ahead and check it with the date duration calculator!
You can also find the number of business days between the two dates, which will be how many days you need to work!
